If you're having work done in your apartment, you must provide a deposit check in the amount of 250.00 US Dollars to the Association prior to work beginning, check that your contractors are licensed with the state, insured (they should provide you with a copy of a certificate of liability), that they are registered with the city of Pompano Beach and that permits for the work have been requested. Typically, you must sign a permit application and have it notarized and give it to your contractor. You should keep a copy of the notarized permit application. If you're contractor fails to pull permits from the City and attempts to perform work in your apartment, you could be facing a large fine from the city. Reputable contractors will not subvert this process.
